The 1973 Ford Mustang was the last year for the generation, and they didn't come any lower, wider, or longer... and in the case of the Mach 1, they didn't come any meaner looking either! There's no better way to showcase a Mach 1 than with the NACA ram air hood on a blacked-out treatment that matches the front air dam, rear spoiler, and revised stripe package. The whole Mach 1 aggression looks great on a body as straight and clean as this one. We really love the detail work, like how the front bumper correctly remains body-colored, the rear chrome bumper shines like a mirror, and the Mag wheels retain their pony center cap. That feels right for a car that proves on the Marti Report that it was originally sent to the Jacksonville ordering district, and we can verify that it has been a Florida car for decades. We always love it when the exterior accent color is a preview of the interior color. It just always makes a classic feel like a well-coordinated build. Plus, nothing looks better against the bold exterior orange than a deep black interior. More than just a high performance coupe, Ford also wanted a luxury image for the Mach 1. So this one still retains its high-back bucket seats as well as the wood veneering on the door panels and dashboard. In total, the interior is another exercise in the original elements, right down to the AM/FM stereo. Under the hood is what purists will love to see. The 351 cubic-inch V8 looks as clean as the day it left the factory, and the presentation is just as honest, too. It has the 351 callout on top – and just look at all those other original-style decals! And while this all looks straight from the '70s, keen eyes will spot all the right upgrades. After all, we love the headers and the newer stainless steel dual exhaust for performance and rumble. Plus, elements like the aluminum radiator help keep this hardy V8 remaining reliable. This is the classic Mustang that has great paint, a very clean presentation, and is complete right down to the pony on the grille. 1973 was the end of an era, and this Mach 1 is the best way to salute the legend.
