2009 dodge challenger review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The new modern classic musclecar is a home run, in spite of the times. introductionafter a hiatus of more than 30 years the dodge challenger returned as a new model for 2008. And chrysler's biggest styling hit since the pt cruiser promptly sold out. Style rules, yet asks few compromises. Some will opine about the timing of the dodge musclecar's return, while others will note chicken little was last seen impaled in a viper grille somewhere. Others still, not content to leave anything alone, will buy the r/t as the basis for their next hot rod and blow all the money saved on an srt8 on more power, accessories, and modifications. The r/t can be used as a daily driver, at least for shorter distances and fuel consumption, and will compete with the mustang gt, over which it has both advantages and disadvantages. Challenger r/t runs a 5. 7-liter hemi v8 rated at 370 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque with the standard five-speed automatic; power increases to 375 hp and 404 pound-feet of torque on premium fuel with the optional six-speed manual/track pak group. The srt8 is fast, stable and ready to go to any track, dodge's fastest car this side of the twice-the-price viper. Not challenger-distinctive in appearance, it does offer the same rumbling v8, rear-drive musclecar recipe (without a manual gearbox option), and again like the challenger, good independent suspension and brakes for about the same price as an r/t.  challenger features an entirely new body, but many of its parts, systems and structures are shared with the chrysler 300 and dodge charger (and magnum). Options include leather upholstery, eight-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, moonroof, disc changer and navigation with real-time traffic, 276-watt boston acoustics audio system, 18-inch aluminum wheels, compact spare tire, abs and electronic stability control and traction control.  challenger r/t 29,320) features a 5. 7-liter hemi v8 rated at 370 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque with a five-speed automatic. R/t adds heated outside mirrors, body-colored rear spoiler and mirrors, metal fuel filler door, leather-wrapped wheel and shifter, illuminated visor mirrors, dual chromed rectangular exhaust pipes, and fog lamps. Mechanical upgrades to accompany the added power include 18-inch aluminum wheels and wider tires, stability control, bigger antilock brakes, and firmer suspension. Options include leather upholstery, navigation system, 368-watt boston acoustics audio system, bi-xenon headlamps, 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels, hood-into-fender stripes and functional hood scoops, keyless go, remote start, compact spare tire, homelink, a trip computer with performance pages (128 functions total), and steering-wheel audio/data controls. The track pak 995) adds a six-speed manual gearbox with twin-disc clutch and pistol-grip shifter, limited-slip differential, load-leveling shocks, performance steering, hill-start assist, bright pedal covers and different mufflers.  challenger srt8 39,320) has a 425-hp 6. 1-liter hemi v8, brembo brakes, a special suspension, and a limited-slip differential. Many bits optional on the r/t are standard here, including a better audio system, bi-xenon headlamps, trip/data computer, leather, keyless go, and sirius satellite radio. The srt8 rear spoiler is flat black, the front spoiler deeper and ducted for brake cooling, hood scoops are functional, the fuel filler is polished aluminum, and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and heated sport seats are standard. Options are the track pak, 522-watt 13-speaker kicker audio system, navigation, hood stripes, remote start, and high-performance staggered-size tires.  safety features on all challengers include dual frontal airbags and side curtain airbags front and rear. Antilock brakes with brake assist, stability control and traction control are available on the se and standard on r/t and srt8. walkaroundthe challenger is the third in chrysler's triple-play of styling hits, following the retro-look pt cruiser and the chrysler 300/dodge magnum/charger from which it's derived. It was unanimously praised by on-lookers as a cool-looking car and is as faithful to the original as has been done in recent years.  part of the challenger's appeal comes from its commanding presence; it's a big car. The challenger is also about 10 inches longer than the ford mustang, its closest competitor until the chevrolet camaro returns.  unlike most new cars, the maximum width is carried well out to the ends resulting in a broad, menacing car. The very wide, horizontal grille, spoilers and tail lamps accentuate the width, as does a turret-like roof and window treatment, and the haunches over the rear wheels where the roof fairs into the trunk and the character line kicks up. The proportions all seem just right, from the carrier-deck expanse of flat hood larger than most modern pickups, to the foot-high side glass and dark lower body trim, and into the massive rear roof pillars.  the major lines are only part of the equation, with details just as well executed. Where signals rode below the bumper on the '70 the new one has fog lamps, and careful sculpting has maintained the classic look without destroying aerodynamic efficiency.  from the side, the srt8's 20-inch wheels frame bright red brake calipers and slotted discs and fill large fender openings that are creased along the edges. Hood scoops carry hemi badges on v8 cars and are functional in that cool air goes in or warm air vents to atmosphere, but they do not feed cold air straight into the engine; the ducts in the spoiler direct cooling air to the front brakes and small winglets at the front wheel openings better define airflow. The fixed side rear windows do not allow the full open hardtop of the original with its frameless doors but in a nod to that look dodge kept the pillars behind the glass so they aren't so obvious. A bright fuel filler cap on r/t and srt8 finishes off the driver's side. The door handles look retro and stylish, but they're hard to grab.  out back, a full-width panel of red lights with a pair of backup lights wedged in the middle of it, along with chrome dodge lettering in a font right out of 'that '70s show.' while only the outer pairs of bulbs light for brake and turn functions, the entire width is used for tail lights. 2012 dodge charger review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. An unequivocally american muscle car. introductionit's as if nobody told dodge about american cars: that they are cheap, flimsy, incompetent. To the contrary, the dodge charger is a proudly american muscle sedan, pumped, powerful, and full of swagger. Without effort, it meets that challenge and welcomes the battle. The charger is proof that american carmakers have learned that they can no longer market shoddy design and haphazard assembly. To that end, the dodge charger is a proud product of the new detroit. It's handsomely designed and has world-class fit and finish. From crankshaft to door handles, everything operates with fine precision and the promise of long-lasting service.  the dodge charger was redesigned for the 2011 model year, and there are no significant changes for the 2012 charger except that a new 2012 dodge charger srt8 has been added to the model lineup. The 2012 charger is the second year of the second generation of the modern charger. The first generation ran 2006-2010. The original was launched as a '66. The general lee bo and luke duke drove was a '69.  from the outside, this second-generation charger looks a lot like an older rendering of the american sedan, but that appearance is misleading. The retro look is a self-confident exercise in sinuous american styling.  the interior, however, is anything but old style. A first-rate, 8. 4-inch touch-screen navigation system is coupled with a rearview camera and ancillary controls for climate and audio. The latest navigation system is sensationally intuitive, transparent, and pleasing to use, among the best we've seen. It's very easy to read and very easy to understand. Underscoring this user-friendliness, the charger's audio controls for volume and tuning are accomplished with old-fashioned, practical radial knobs: what a concept! German luxury brands costing vastly more could learn from the charger's straightforward controls.  nothing else is more happily apparent in the new dodge charger than that chrysler has enthusiastically embraced the new design and quality standards dictated by detroit's recent, painful bailouts. They must build better cars at lower prices than the competition. V6 chargers earn a stellar 31 mpg highway.  the 2012 dodge charger is the classic combination: a full-size detroit sedan with strong performance and unmistakable american looks, selling at a surprisingly attractive price. Compared with the full-size dodge sedan of 20 or 30 years ago, a 2012 charger will reward the owner with exciting styling, world-class engineering and impressive value. Connectivity group for sxt 395) includes voice command with bluetooth, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and leather-wrapped shift knob. Charger r/t 29,995) features the 5. 7-liter 370-bhp hemi v8 with decel fuel shut off (dfso). Adaptive cruise control group for sxt plus, r/t plus, and r/t road & track 925) adds forward collision warning with adaptive cruise control and heated steering wheel. Navigation group 795) includes voice command with garmin navi, sirius traffic, sirius travel link, and parking view rear backup camera.  safety features on all dodge chargers includes electronic traction control (tcs), electronic stability control (esc), anti-lock brakes (abs), electronic brake distribution (ebd), brake assist, rain brake support, hill-start assist, automatic headlamps, active front head restraints, all federally mandated airbags (seven), front seatbelt pretensioners, lower anchors and tethers for children (latch), occupant restraint controller. Available all-wheel drive can improve handling stability in adverse conditions, and the available rearview camera can help the driver spot a child behind the car when backing up. walkaroundthis latest-generation dodge charger is immediately recognizable. The front says it's a dodge, a design theme that began life on, of all things, the upright first-generation dodge ram pickup truck. The two vehicles could not be more different, yet the aggressive, muscular cruciform grille suits both perfectly. Achieving that kind of unmistakable model-line identity is no small achievement.  in like manner, the tail of the charger uses the same array of full-width taillamps made famous on the charger in the '60s. It's a handsome look that is instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with historic dodge styling cues. The charger expresses pride in where dodge, chrysler corporation, and for that matter, all american cars have been during the last few turbulent decades.  the body of the second-generation modern charger is crisply styled throughout. It is considerably edgier and more muscular than its immediate predecessor, which had great promise but was, by comparison, a bit of a lump. Along the sides of the car are slanting, angular indentations that echo the racy rear-facing engine-room vents made so famous on the all-conquering dodge viper supercar. In the charger, these are unmistakably bad looking in all of the right street-savvy ways.  continuing this street look, in profile, the car's dramatically low roofline tapers downward rapidly at the car's mid-point. In combination with its high waistline and compressed greenhouse, the car expresses a secretive, almost hot-rod chopped appearance. Occupants seem to peer outward from sinister gun slit-like windows. Yet for all of its hunched-over appearance, the occupants' outward visibility is quite good enough.  when the charger's dynamic outward appearance is combined with its strong performance, this is an american muscle sedan with the credentials to appeal to a broad range of tastes. interiorexamining the charger's interior, we started in the back seat to investigate just how limited seating room might be underneath this low roofline. Inevitably, tall backseat passengers will have to scrunch down a little, though moderately tall riders will be just fine. The rear cabin is comfortable and roomy without being huge. The top of the backlight has multi-linear applique black stripes, providing a bit of shade from the sun and simultaneously creating the impression from outside that the rear window is even lower and more hooded.  the rear seat is firm and supportive, with a fairly hard back-cushion. A central pull-down elbow rest contains two cup holde. Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ Power Mirrors✔ Power Locks✔ Cruise Control✔ Backup Camera✔ Navigation System✔ Remote Start✔ Bluetooth

2006 dodge magnum review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The term crossover vehicle has been thrown around a lot the last couple years, meant to apply to suvs leaning in the direction of cars and/or minivans. But the tag is too vague to mean much.  suddenly, with the dodge magnum, it fit. There was a car with the capability to wean the country off of suvs. Its bold, hot rod lines might scare some people away, but its utility can't be denied. It's a full-size, american car with spacious cargo capacity and available all-wheel drive. It's engineered for safety, styled for image and designed for utility. If those aren't what people want when they buy an suv, what do they want?  plus, the magnum gets better gas mileage than full-size suvs. The base magnum se comes with a 190-hp, double overhead cam v6 that gets 21 to 28 miles per gallon, at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $23,095 including destination. Powered by a 6. 1-liter, v8 hemi making 425 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, the srt8 lives up to the magnum name, accelerating from 0 to 60 in about five seconds and from 0 to 100 and back to 0 in less than 17 seconds. Standard equipment includes premium cloth interior, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and locks with remote entry, a 60/40 split rear seat with center armrest, am/fm/cd sound system, tilt-telescoping steering column, rack-and-pinion steering, 17-inch wheels and disc brakes.  the sxt 26,470) comes with a 3. 5-liter single overhead cam v6 and a five-speed automatic with autostick. Sxt models are available with all-wheel drive 28,900). The sxt comes with abs with brake assist, all-speed traction control and electronic stability control, along with aluminum wheels, tinted glass, cargo cover, and an eight-way power driver's seat.  the r/t 30,245) gets the 5. 7-liter v8 hemi and a five-speed automatic transmission with autostick. The r/t is also available with all-wheel drive 32,345). The r/t features a leather interior, bigger and beefier brakes, a 19-gallon gas tank, 18-inch polished aluminum wheels, dual exhausts, foglights, and a boston acoustics premium six-speaker sound system with a 288-watt digital amplifier.  the srt8 37,320) features the 6. 1-liter v8 hemi and a five-speed autostick automatic. It's available in rear-wheel drive only. Manual air conditioning is standard on the srt8, as are power-adjustable, sport-bolstered front seats; cruise control; power locks, windows and mirrors; power adjustable pedals; esp; antilock brakes with brake assist; and 20x9-inch forged aluminum wheels with goodyear f1 high-performance tires. The uniquely tuned, load-leveling, tauter and firmer suspension lowers the srt8's ride height by half an inch. Brakes are vented disc front and rear.  optional features vary by model and packaging and include dual-zone automatic climate control; a power passenger seat; heated front seats; electronic vehicle information center; electrochromic rearview mirror; air filtration; self-sealing (but not run-flat) tires; hands-free cell phone capability; power adjustable pedals; gps navigation system with integrated six-disc cd/mp3 player; rear seat, dvd entertainment system; sirius satellite radio; sunroof; roof rack; cargo cover and net; and load-leveling shocks. One of the several paint colors, inferno red, costs extra 225).  safety features on all models include advanced multistage dual front airbags and the latch child seat anchor system. Side-curtain airbags designed to improve head protection for front- and rear-seat occupants, however, are optional 390). It's a long, low, beefy station wagon on a wide track with big bold grille and a chopped top. It would be an understatement to say the magnum has presence. In fact, there is nothing like it on the road.  however, it's not called a station wagon any more. The epa classifies it as a sport utility. Others call this new direction a sport wagon. The headlamp units are a nice integrated wedge shape. We like them better than those on the new chrysler 300, a magnum sibling, which try harder to be retro. The air dam/bumper cover wraps up under the headlamps and grille, and looks impressively beefy and functional. The srt8 gets a mesh grille insert surrounded by a blockier fascia with a more aggressive air dam and enlarged, brake-cooling ducts.  from the side, the magnum looks like it could be rolled onto the floor of a custom rod show. The wheel cutouts are profound, especially imposing with the 18-inch, 10-spoke wheels on the rt and borderline brutish with the srt8's 20-inchers and ultra-low profile rubber. A big visual effect is created by the tinted glass and roofline sloping back and pinching the rear window. This serves an innovative purpose. The one-piece liftgate is hinged about two feet up into the roof, providing a vast and liberating opening to the cargo area. It requires less ducking to reach things in there, and will be easier on lower backs of all ages. Dodge lists the cargo capacity as 27. 2 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 71. 6 cubic feet with them down, while the epa total interior volume indicates 133. 1 cubic feet. We did, and the cargo area looks wider, flatter, longer and easier to access than most suvs. It's usually the length and width and flat floor that matter, and the magnum excels by those measurements.  we also climbed in the back seat and crawled around a bit. There was room to do so, only 10 percent less than in the front seat, according to the sae volume index. In people terms, the rear seat's measurements come within an inch of the front's except in legroom, where the rear seat gives up just over an inch and a half to the front. The 60/40 split rear seat seats three people, but a wide, center armrest with cupholders drops down to make it more comfortable for two. There's plenty of head clearance despite the roofline, which poses no rear visibility problem for the driver. Even so, the chopped-top proportions left us feeling a touch claustrophobic.  the driver should have no problem finding a comfortable position. If anything, this is overkill, but adjustable pedals can help people of small stature (petite women, for example) position themselves farther away from the airbag-equipped steering wheel, lessening the chance of airbag-related injuries.  fabric covers the seats in the se and sxt, with leather optional in the latter and standard in the r/t and the srt8. We found the regular seats generally supportive. However, all of the seats were somewhat short in thigh support.  we really liked the magnum's gauges, handsome and all business, white background with black numbers and stainless trim rings. The navigation system's screen displaces the stereo faceplate, with controls for both functions arrayed around the perimeter.  the console compartment is decent sized, with two levels, the upper stamped with recesses for holding sundry items, and contains practical coin holders. There's also a sunglasses holder within the driver's reach. And speaking of specialized holders, the optional cargo organizer keeps grocery bags from topping over and incorporates a nook designed for holding a one-gallon milk jug.  the magnum takes an innovative approach to placement of the entertainment system's video screen.

This is a real 1970 dodge challenger rt 440 v-code 6 pac car. It is not a shaker hood purple car. The owner at that time bought itoff of a board at the local car parts store at that time it had a 340 6 pac and retained its factory color of f3light green metallic. Still had a 4spd and dana with 4;10 gears. After purchasing the car he had all the customwork done and did not care it was a v-code car and does not know what happened to the fender tag and he does notremember the guys name he bought it from. The car and history is well known in the st louis mo mopar area. But thatis as far back as the history of the car is known. So what is known is it was f3 green 440 6 pac 4spd dana supertrac pac car. In the late 80's the car had a electrical fire and burnt the interior up and the insurance company totaled thecar out. He bought it back and striped the car and it went to the junk yard and sat there for a few years untilsomebody peeled back the white fur on the dash and saw the vin number and saved it from the junk yard and it waspassed around to 4 or 5 owners until i got it and restored it to the condition it is now. I decided to restore it how i would of ordered it new. I got it as a shell and it came out of body shop that didnot finish it they replaced a frame rail due to setting on the ground and the roof skin was warped from the fire. They also had partial quarters on it when i got it. I cut them off and put good mark full quarters on and finishedall the body work and did full rotisserie restoration and painted it with the help from the owner of claydoe custompaint. That was 9 years ago. The interior is legendary. The gauges are original with the clock and tac rebuilt andwork perfect. The motor is bored 30 over with sealed power forged pistons 6 pac rods and balancer and the hemi oilpan with high volume pump oil psi is between 60 and 80 psi. The heads have stainless steel valves and hardenedseats and are set up to run super unleaded pump gas. The intake is the cast iron one with original holley carbsrebuilt by pro-max out of indy. It is a fun car to drive and take to shows and cruises. The car is not a 100 point show car the paint has a few blemishes and nics and scratches and there is a smallbubble on the bottom of the driver door.

2005 dodge magnum review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The term 'crossover vehicle' has been thrown around a lot the last couple years, meant to apply to those suvs that are leaning in the direction of cars and/or minivans. But the tag is too vague to mean much. Suddenly, with the new dodge magnum, it fits. This is the car that has the capability to wean the country off of suvs. Its bold hot-rod lines might scare people away, but its utility can't be denied. It's a full-size american car with spacious cargo capacity and available all-wheel drive. And it's engineered for safety. It's got image and utility. If that isn't what people want when they buy an suv, what do they want?  plus, it gets better gas mileage than full-size suvs. The magnum comes standard with a 190-horsepower double-overhead-cam v6 that gets 21-28 miles per gallon, at a stunning base price of $22,495 including destination. In fact, it excels in all those areas. lineupthree dodge magnum models are available. The se 21,870) is nicely equipped for its price. Standard equipment includes premium cloth interior, air conditioning, power windows and locks with remote entry, a 60/40 split rear seat with center armrest, am/fm/cd sound system, tilt-telescoping steering column, solar control window glass, rack-and-pinion steering, 17-inch wheels and disc brakes. Equipment-wise, the sxt most notably adds the magic combination of abs with brake assist, all-speed traction control and electronic stability. It uses a five-speed automatic transmission with autostick, designed by mercedes and built in the u. The r/t adds to the sxt features a leather interior, bigger and beefier brakes, 18-inch polished aluminum wheels, dual exhausts, foglights, and a boston acoustics premium six-speaker sound system with a 288-watt digital amplifier.  optional equipment includes a power passenger seat, heated front seats, dual zone automatic climate control, electronic vehicle information center, electrochromic rearview mirror, front and rear air curtains, air filtration, self-sealing tires, hands-free cellphone capability, power adjustable pedals, gps navigation system with integrated six-disc cd/mp3 player, sirius satellite radio, sunroof and load-leveling shocks. walkaroundthe styling of the magnum is so distinctive that a picture will say far more than words can. It's a long, low, beefy station wagon on a wide track with big bold grille and a chopped top. It would be an understatement to say the magnum has presence. And that's what it is: a crossover between sports car and station wagon. More accurately, the dodge magnum is a crossover between muscle car and station wagon. The headlamp units are a nice integrated wedge shape. We like them better than those on the new chrysler 300, the magnum's sister car, which try harder to be retro. The air dam/bumper cover wraps up under the headlamps and grille, and looks impressively beefy and functional.  from the side, the magnum looks like it could be rolled onto the floor of a hot rod show. The wheel cutouts are profound, and especially imposing with the 18-inch 10-spoke wheels on the rt. But a bigger visual effect is created by the tinted glass and roofline sloping back and pinching the rear window. This serves an innovative purpose. The one-piece liftgate is hinged about two feet up into the roof, providing a vast and liberating opening to the cargo area. Dodge lists the cargo capacity as 27. 2 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 71. 6 cubic feet with them down, while the epa interior volume indicates 133. 1 cubic feet. We did and the cargo area looks wider, flatter, longer and easier to access than most suvs. There was room to do so, only 10 percent less than in the front seat, according to the sae volume index. The 60/40 split rear seat holds three, but a wide armrest with cupholders drops down to make it more comfortable for two. The center stack was clean and tidy in black, with buttons that were easy to click and knobs where knobs should be, for the climate control and radio. The console compartment is decent sized, and contains practical coinholders. There's also a sunglasses holder within the driver's reach. And speaking of specialized holders, the cargo area includes a nook designed for holding a one-gallon milk jug, and grocery bags.  but mostly the magnum feels great from the driver's seat, which is firm and comfortable. With a similar long hood, and identical wheelbase, for some reason, from behind the wheel the magnum doesn't feel as big as the chrysler 300. driving impressionthe dodge magnum was a car we didn't want to stop driving. All that horsepower, all that torque, great tight handling, solid comfortable ride, very enjoyable instrument panel and steering wheel and seats.  the five-speed automatic transmission, designed by mercedes, upshifted sharply and smoothly, but even in the autostick mode it sometimes upshifted before we wanted it to. The engine felt easily underworked at that speed. Numbers and charts notwithstanding, this is an engine that feels like it wants to rev. Although by the same token, the 340 horsepower peaks at just 5000 rpm, so revving past 5500 would seem to be unnecessary. It was just so much fun. We should add that we were testing a pre-production magnum, and it's possible that showroom models may be programmed to shift at 5800, not 5500.  even with all that power and torque, the acceleration isn't neck-snapping; the magnum has a very tall final drive ratio of 2. 82, which is great for gas mileage and quiet running, but tempers acceleration. There were times it felt like it had 340 horsepower, and times it didn't. There were more times that it didn't feel like it had 390 pound-feet of torque, which might be because the torque peaks at a relatively high level, 4000 rpm. With torque peaking at 4000 and horsepower peaking at 5000, there's a relatively small area of maximum happy performance for such a big engine. We're not complaining, merely lamenting what could be. And no doubt will, with aftermarket tuners.  they'll also find grippier tires for the magnum. As the tires lost their limited bite, the esp cut the throttle on us. With grippier tires it's unlikely that intrusion would occur. This car warrants sport or high-performance tires, though they may not last as long or work as well in the winter.  we also felt the front wheels bouncing at times, which was the only blemish on an otherwise grea.
