2011 bmw 1-series review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Inspiration for the 1 series came from the bmw 2002 of some 40 years ago (1968-76).  the 2011 bmw 1 series comes in coupe and convertible models in two versions: the bmw 128i and the bmw 135i.  the 2011 bmw 135i benefits from an all-new inline-6 engine, here using a single turbocharger to produce 300 horsepower, and paired with the sporty 7-speed dual clutch transmission from the z4 roadster. (code-named n55, the 2011 engine replaces last year's 300-hp twin-turbo inline-6.) the 2011 bmw 135i is also available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which we found silky smooth and a pleasure to operate. Fuel economy from the 135i even edges that of the 128i, with an epa-estimated 20/28 mpg city/highway for a 2011 135i coupe.  the 2011 bmw 128i coupe and convertible continue to be powered by the normally aspirated 3. 0-liter inline-6 that generates 230 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. They're available with 6-speed manual or 6-speed steptronic automatic.  an m sport package adds a sports suspension that favors handling over ride quality.  the bmw 1 series is nearly seven inches shorter overall than the 3 series. The 1 series brings bmw's highly developed rear-wheel-drive platform to compete with cars in the entry luxury coupe class that mostly use front-wheel drive.  in many ways, the 1 series is nothing more or less than a scaled-down version of the 3 series, with similar looks, similar equipment and similar performance and handling. Indeed, it uses many of the same components and systems. The 135i is a smaller, lighter package with the same engine as the 3 series for a lot less money. The bmw 1 series was launched in the u. As a 2008 model, initially only as a coupe.  we like these cars. They're comfortable, sitting in one is like sitting in a 3 series. Underway, they are sporty and agile, driver's cars, with the feel of rear-wheel drive. We found a 128i convertible is a delight and it has enough power. Most fun to drive is a 135i coupe, though we recommend against the m suspension due to the hard ride. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes standard, a 6-speed automatic is optional 1,375).  the bmw 135i coupe 36,050) includes a firmer sport suspension and high-performance brakes, m sport aero body kit, adaptive xenon headlights with washers, sunroof, gray poplar wood interior trim, and p215/40yr18 front tires leading p245/35yr18 rears. A 6-speed manual is standard. New for 2011 is an optional 7-speed dct dual clutch automated manual transmission 1,575).  the bmw 128i convertible 34,200) and bmw 135i convertible 40,350) are equipped similarly to their coupe counterparts, except they don't have folding rear seats or a sunroof, and they ride on less radical rubber. The 128i soft top comes with p205/55hr16 run-flat rubber front and rear, while the 135i convertible gets p205/50r17 run-flat tires. Both come with a fully automatic fabric folding top. The 135i convertible does not have the coupe's body kit. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes standard on both 1 series convertibles; the 6-speed automatic is optional on the 128i 1,375); the 7-speed dct is optional for 135i 1,575).  options include a sport package 1,300) for the 128i models includes the sport suspension, sport seats, shadowline exterior trim, an increased top-speed limiter, and p205/50r17 front and p225/45r17 rear run-flat tires. The coupe also gets a black headliner. The m sport package for the 135i coupe 1,300) and 135i convertible 1,200) includes the increased top-speed limiter, m sport seats, m sport steering wheel, black headliner (coupe), shadowline trim, body cladding, and 18-inch performance tires.  a premium package upgrades with leather upholstery, 8-way power front seats with lumbar adjustment, memory for the driver's seat and mirrors, bmw assist telematics service, bluetooth wireless cell phone link, auto-dimming power-folding exterior mirrors, wood interior trim, universal garage door opener, auto-dimming rearview mirror, compass, illuminated visor mirrors, and additional interior lights. The 128i coupe version also includes a sunroof. A convenience package includes rear park assist, keyless access and starting, steering-linked adaptive xenon headlights, and an alarm. A cold weather package 900) adds heated front seats, a trunk pass-through with a ski sack, and headlight washers.  standalone options include leather upholstery 1,450), heated front seats 500), heated steering wheel 150), navigation system 2,100), bmw assist 750) with bluetooth connectivity, sirius satellite radio 350), ipod/usb adapter 400), smartphone integration 150), steering wheel shift paddles 120), harman kardon audio 875), 8-way power front seats 995), and adaptive xenon headlights 900). Wood trim is available on the 128i 500) and can be omitted from the 135i (for no charge).  safety features that come standard on the 1 series include dual front airbags, seat-mounted front side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags (coupe only), abs, electronic stability control, traction control, cornering brake control, and launch control for getting started on slippery surfaces. The brake lights include a panic-braking mode that lights up the entire lens extra bright whenever the brake pedal is stomped hard. The federally mandated tire-pressure monitor is standard. walkaroundthe bmw 1 series is definitely short in the rear compared to the larger 3 series, but it looks good that way. It doesn't look cheap or cut off or bandaged. Every major part of the car, the nose, the bodyside, the roof and the rear end, blends with the rest of the car to make a shorter, narrower version of the 3 series with a different and special roofline. Some would argue, however, that the slab-like sides are bland compared to other, more sculpted bmws.  we're fond of the m aerodynamics package standard on the 135i, including the huge air intakes below the bumper, necessary for cooling the turbocharger intake air. The 128i has a cleaner, albeit more conventional, full-width opening below the bumper, divided into three parts by two angled struts. The outboard sections are then sub-divided horizontally, with a fog light at the top and a small grille underneath. The bottom edge of the opening turns up at the ends, smile-like.  at the rear, the 128i dispenses with the 135i's prominent spoiler, in favor of a more gentle lip integrated into the trunk lid. And the 128i's rear bumper is entirely body-color, lacking the black-out panel seen on the 135i. Drag coefficient actually improves, from 0. 33 to 0. 31 cd.  put the top down on the convertible models, and the flared shoulder line that's shared with the coupes seems to form a single surface that surrounds the interior, like the deck of a small boat. Just about everything inside is in the same location and looks and operates the same way.  we found the front bucket seats to be very comfortable and supportive, with big side bolsters. It includes a central control knob with a separate menu button, while other version add cd, tel, radio, nav, back and option buttons around the controller. Those extra buttons provide easier access various functions, eliminating a few steps. Both versions require some time to learn, but the system in the 1 series is a little more daunting. Having tried idrive numerous times, we're used to it and not entirely annoyed, but many drivers will find it overly complicated.  all 1 series coupes come with a 60/40 split folding rear seat than can almost triple the trunk's 10 cubic feet of s. 2010 bmw 7 series review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The ultimate driver's luxury sedan. introductionthe bmw 7 series cars uphold a tradition of building some of the most dynamic and exhilarating large luxury sedans in the world.  completely redesigned for 2009, the fifth-generation 7 series line expands for 2010. For the first time, the bmw 750i and bmw 750li xdrive models bring all-wheel drive to bmw's largest sedan. The new v12-powered bmw 760li can be considered the ultimate 7 series, measured by both performance and luxury. All 2010 bmw 7 series models add bmw's brake energy regeneration system, which captures some of the energy lost as the car slows to a stop and uses it to charge the battery.  the 2010 7 series sedan comes in standard and long versions, designated by an l in the numeric nomenclature. The 750li and 760li have a wheelbase that's 5. 5 inches longer than the 750i. They're a little harder to parallel park, but they offer a ride that's even more luxurious due to the longer wheelbase along with considerably more rear-seat leg room.  the 750li and 750i feature a new-generation v8 engine, with direct fuel injection and twin turbocharging. This 4. 4-liter v8 makes 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, awesome numbers for an engine its size, while using less fuel than its predecessor to get occupants around town. It's matched to a six-speed automatic transmission. Optional all-wheel drive adds all-climate capability without ruining the 7 series' sporty handling characteristics. The 760li ups the ante with a 535-hp v12 and an eight-speed automatic.  weight-efficient construction and innovative chassis technology contribute to the lively driving dynamics that many expect from a bmw, especially high-end models like the 7 series. Crash protection has been enhanced, despite the use of lighter chassis materials, though most models have gained a bit of weight compared to their predecessors, thanks to more standard equipment and comfort-related features.  the long-wheelbase cars have their own roofline, and the silhouette is sleeker than ever. It's like a roomy, richly appointed cocoon protecting occupants from an ornery world, though some of the controls and features can be overly complicated. Just about every safety, comfort or convenience feature invented to date for the automobile is available on the 7 series. Yet what really distinguishes these cars is their dynamic verve: a combination of response, acceleration, smooth ride and sharp handling that few if any large sedans can match.  beyond its expansion of the 7 series line for 2010, bmw has already tipped its hand with three more models expected to reach showrooms by late spring. The 2011 740i and 740li will be powered by bmw's 3. 0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine. The 2011 alpina b7 will be a hot rod 7 series created with the help of german aftermarket tuner alpina. lineupbmw's full-size 7 series sedan is available in standard or long-wheelbase models, with a v8 or new v12 engine and optional all-wheel drive.  the 2010 bmw 750i 82,000) and bmw 750li 85,900) are powered by a 400-horsepower, 4. 4-liter turbocharged v8, matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 750li's wheelbase is nearly five inches longer, translating to an equal increase in rear-seat leg room. Both come standard with the amenities expected in this class, including a choice of genuine wood trim, navigation system, 10-speaker audio with hd radio, active xenon headlights and 18-inch wheels. All 7 series cars now come with bmw's brake energy regeneration system, which captures energy lost as the car slows to charge the battery.  the new bmw 750xi 85,000) and 750lxi 88,900) are the first 7 series models equipped with bmw's xdrive all-wheel drive system, tuned to deliver the sporty handling that has characterized the 7 series for decades.  options for the 750s are plentiful, and grouped in a dozen different packages. Highlights include the m sport package 6,500), which adds a sport steering wheel, lift-reducing aerodynamic kit, active roll stabilization, shadowline trim and 19-inch wheels with high-performance tires. The convenience package 1,700) includes power trunk operation, soft-touch automatic side doors and comfort access proximity key, while the rear seat entertainment package 2,200) adds two video monitors for the rear seat. Many options are also available individually, including bmw's integral active steering 1,750), leather-covered dashboard 1,200), and 20-inch wheels 1,300).  the bmw 760li 137,000) is powered by a 535-horsepower, 6. 0-liter turbocharged v12. It's also equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and self-leveling rear suspension. Active safety features are among the most advanced available, with bmw's dynamic stability control skid-management electronics and dynamic brake control, featuring brake fade compensation, start-off assistant, brake drying, brake stand-by and active brake lights.  there are several safety related options, including infra-red night vision with pedestrian detection 2,600) and a head-up display 1,300). The driver assistance package 1,350) includes automatic high beams, lane departure warning & active blind spot detection, while the camera package 750) adds rear- and side-view cameras. walkaroundall of bmw's 7 series sedans look sleek and expensive, and for the price they certainly should. What's better, one year after a complete re-styling, is this: virtually all of the odd, sometimes awkward design cues from the previous-generation 7 are gone.  the v12-powered 760li, new for 2010, has several discrete styling appointments to distinguish it from the 750li and 750i. Its kidney shaped grille is trimmed with a wider chrome surround that is slightly concave. The 760's side gills, located where the doors meet the front fenders, have a chrome finish and v12 badges.  in front, the vertical bars in all 7 series grilles are spaced wider than those on other bmws, for distinction, though we're not sure it's very distinguishing. It doesn't make a car look more stylish by increasing the gap between its teeth. The hood is long but front overhang is short. The fenders are chiseled upward, nicely. This 7 series has the maturity and sophistication appropriate to a car of its stature.  the long-wheelbase l models have their own roofline, creating a different profile from that of the shorter 750i. The l roof travels sensuously along with the rest of the car in order to keep it from looking like a stretched 750i with a long tail. Bmw pays attention.  from the rear, there's little to tell the world that the 750s are remarkable luxury cars. The back end looks like any other car on the highway, with big taillights and a horizontal chrome strip. A small lip on the trunk lid only adds accent to the car's lines when viewed from the side.  perhaps bmw feels the same way, as the 2010 760li has also been spiced-up a bit in back. An additional chrome bar connects unique dual tailpipes below the bumper line. The 760li's quad tailpipe tips are rectangular, and integrated in the rear air dam. Whether the good outweighs the bad depends on personal taste and predilection.  first, the good: great interior lighting, and the world's best backup video camera, including those that incorporate side view. The doors open way wide, for easy entry and exit. The screen with navigation and all its menus is very readable, at 10. 2 inches versus 8. 8 inches before. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is just about perfect, and some drivers will find its audio controls close to salvation.  any 7 series model delivers the luxurious feeling cars in this class are supposed to create. Comfort, whether in the front seat or rear seat, is superb in the 760li and 750li. There's still enough space for people up to about 5' 10”.  more good: luxurious leather, even in the base nappa trim grade, and genuine polished wood available in several choices. We absolutely loved the stitched leather dashboard, which is optional on the 750s and standard on the v12-powered 760li. Climate Control✔ Sport Package✔ Navigation System✔ Alloy Wheels

2013 bmw 1 series review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New car test drive. introductionone of the first entry-level luxury cars to hit the u. Market, the bmw 1 series is anything but bargain-basement. With a choice of three powerful six-cylinder engines and dimensions that rival earlier 3 series models, the 1 series are bona fide bmws, complete with precision driving dynamics, premium features and a pricey sticker.  the 2013 bmw 1 series is mostly unchanged over last year, but receives some additional standard features and retooled options. The high-performance 1 series m coupe is gone, replaced by another sporty variant: the 2013 bmw 135is, available in both coupe and convertible body styles. The 2013 bmw 135is is now the most powerful of the bunch, with unique exterior and interior trim.  in some ways, the 1 series is the spiritual successor to the sporty bmw 2002, produced 1968-76, and in some ways the 320i yuppy-mobile that followed. They're available with 6-speed manual or 6-speed steptronic automatic. Bmw says the 128i can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 7. 0 seconds with the automatic, 6. 4 seconds with the manual. Fuel economy for the 2013 bmw 128i coupe is 18/28 mpg city/highway with either transmission; the 2013 bmw 128i convertible achieves 18/27 mpg city/highway with the automatic and 19/28 mpg with the manual.  the bmw 135i features a twin-scroll turbocharged 3. 0-liter inline-6, good for 300 hp and 300 lb.-ft. The bmw 135i coupe and convertible are available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, which does not require manual shifting from the driver. A bmw 135i can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5. 4 seconds with the manual gearbox, 5. 3 seconds with the 7-speed dct. Fuel economy from the bmw 135i coupe is 20/28 mpg city/highway with the manual and 18/25 mpg with the dct. Convertibles earn 19/28 mpg city/highway with the manual and 18/25 mpg with the dct.  the 2013 bmw 135is uses a more powerful version of the 135i's turbocharged inline-6, which pumps out 320 hp and 317 lb.-ft. Of torque, and a choice of 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The 135is also gets a sport-tuned suspension, additional cooling systems, and a sport exhaust that gives the 135is a throatier growl than the other 1 series models. On the outside, it's differentiated by a high-gloss black kidney grill, black mirror caps, m sport trim and unique 18-inch wheels.  a bmw 1 series convertible can drop its top in just 22 seconds. Top-down motoring is one of life's great joys, so this is a great feature.  the bmw 1 series cars are comfortable, sporty and agile, true driver's cars, with the feel of rear-wheel drive. The cole weather package adds heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The technology package adds navigation with real-time traffic information, voice recognition, smartphone integration with bmw apps and the bmw assist crash notification service.  safety features on all 1 series include dual front airbags, seat-mounted front side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags (coupe only), abs, electronic stability control, traction control, cornering brake control, and launch control for getting started on slippery surfaces. A storage package for the trunk area includes some tie-downs and straps and a 12-volt power point for external accessories. The soft top takes up less trunk space than a convertible hard top would, which is partly why the design uses a soft top. Still, it eats up two cubic feet of cargo space, leaving 8 cubic feet, which is small but not too bad for a convertible.  the convertible's interior room suffers a bit, though hardly enough for a real convertible enthusiast to notice. Front leg room is reduced by a quarter inch, and head room by three-quarters of an inch. The losses in rear-seat room are more consequential, where shoulder room contracts by nearly a foot. Leg room is reduced by three-quarters of an inch, and head room by just 0. 1 inch. Coupe or convertible, the two-passenger rear seat is rather inhospitable. The brake lights include a panic-braking mode that lights up the entire lens extra bright whenever the brake pedal is stomped hard. walkaroundthe bmw 1 series is short in the rear compared to the larger 3 series, but it looks good that way. It doesn't look cheap or cut off or bandaged. Every major part of the car, the nose, the bodyside, the roof and the rear end, blends with the rest of the car to make a shorter, narrower version of the 3 series with a different and special roofline. Some would argue, however, that the slab-like sides are bland compared to other, more sculpted bmws.  we like the 135i's aerodynamics package with the huge air intakes below the bumper, necessary for cooling the turbocharger intake air. At the rear, the 135i has a prominent spoiler, while the 128i uses a more gentle lip integrated into the trunk lid. The 128i rear bumper is entirely body-color, lacking the black-out panel seen on the 135i. Drag coefficient on the 128i coupe is 0. 31 cd vs. The 135i coupe's 0. 33 cd.  put the top down on the convertible models, and the flared shoulder line that's shared with the coupes seems to form a single surface that surrounds the interior, like the deck of a small boat. Having tried idrive numerous times, we're used to it and not entirely annoyed, but many drivers find it overly complicated.  all 1 series coupes come with a 60/40 split folding rear seat than can almost triple the trunk's 10 cubic feet of space. Leather seats, sunroof, parking sensor, backup camera, navigation, 70k miles, m package, clean title, carfax available. The bmw x6 blurs the line between car and suv and for this reason is known as a crossover. The x6 is much more car than sport-utility. We call it a coupe-like suv thing. Or an suv-like coupe thing. Bmw calls the x6 a sports activity coupe. For 2010, the bmw x6 m joins the lineup, which includes the x6 xdrive35i and x6 xdrive50i models. M is easier to remember, but the other models are nice to drive and there's no need to cite these model designation. The new bmw x6 m uses a more powerful version of the 4. 4-liter v8 from the xdrive50i model tuned to a whopping 555 horsepower. X6 m comes standard with bmw's xdrive all-wheel-drive system, stiffer suspension, sport seats, and various exterior cues that show this vehicle means business, and that its business is performance. All bmw x6 engines are twin-turbocharged with inline-6 or v8 power, and all provide ample power for everyday use and even for towing. The v8s make the x6 a hot rod, but we recommend the inline-6 because it has plenty of pep and is more fuel efficient. Shifter paddles on the steering wheel add to the sporty character of the x6. We found the x6 handles well on the road and on the track. It's better than any suv but not as good as bmw's own sporty coupes and sport roadsters. It corners with little body lean, but the stiff suspension makes the ride somewhat harsh, especially with the sport package and optional 20-inch wheels. The new x6 m handles and stops even better. Inside, the ambience is upscale, with lots of leather and soft-touch surfaces. Bmw's idrive control system is standard. It also features programmable buttons to provide one-touch control of some o.

Inside, the ambience is upscale, with lots of leather and soft-touch surfaces. Bmw's idrive control system is standard. Front-seat passengers have plenty of room. Drivers of the m are hugged by thickly bolstered sport seats. M drivers also get a sporty m steering wheel and unique gauges. In all models, visibility to the rear is restricted by a small, flat rear window. Two rear-seat occupants should be comfortable, provided they're not tall. The rear hatch lifts up and the rear seat folds down to give the x6 a nice amount of cargo storage space. It's on par with other hatchbacks but isn't as good as an suv. The x6 defies categorization. It rides high, so it doesn't handle as well as a sport coupe, and it doesn't have the cargo and people carrying capacity of an suv. Overall, it's a fine vehicle. Pricing is high, especially for the 50i and m models. We recommend the six-cylinder 35i model. At kosher motors, buying a pre-owned car or truck with confidence has never been easier. The high-performance 1 Series M Coupe is gone, replaced by another sporty variant: the 2013 BMW 135is, availabl Bucket Seats✔ Power Windows✔ Climate Control✔ Cruise Control✔ Navigation System✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Alloy Wheels
