1972 911t targaruns and drives excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it cross country.“everything works - even the clock” - this car is ready to use and enjoy now. Numbers matching (per coa) with no rust. 94,666 original miles. Excellent, original interior including the original dash with no cracks. This car has been off the road and in drystorage for the past 25 years, it is very original and well preserved. The interior: carpets, dash, door panels,seats, steering wheel etc. Are in "preservation class" condition. Some general patina consistent with a 44 yearold car. Complete including: a very nice original tool kit, like new owner's manual with wiring diagrams and dealer locator,spare wheel/tire and jack.$25,000 recently spent on full mechanical refresh including rebuilt mfi pump, engine, transmission and brakesystem. Engine, transaxle and brakes were rebuild by renowned porsche shop rothsport, work completed november 2015. Mahle 2. 2e pistons were used which raises compression from approximately 7. 5:1 to 9. 1:1 which makes for afantastic running and higher performance 2. 4 "t" motor. Dyno test results (available) showed 160hp. Buildsheet/invoice for engine and transmission rebuild and dyno test results available to interested parties. Feel freeto contact jeff gamroth at rothsport road & race to discuss the engine etcdisassembled and painted 25 years ago but not reassembled until we got it a year ago. Paint looks good and is ok,but there are signs of touch-ups here and there. Full set of five 1972 dated fuchs 6x15 wheels. Correct and brand new (interstate battery) dual battery system. Records for recent parts and labor totaling close to $30,000, no prior records available. Rust free, the front suspension pan was professionally and correctly replaced some time in the past, no doubt theoriginal part succumbed to battery acid, a common issue with these cars. Has period correct, dealer installed air conditioning. The compressor and condenser etc. Have been removed but areincluded in the sale of this car. The under dash vent unit is in great shape, this and the evaporative system inthe smugglers box are still installed in the car.. The radio is period correct but most likely a dealer or owner added item. Rear defroster switch lights up in both positions, but we haven’t had the right weather conditions to test thesystem. Clear oregon title in my name. Factory vin stamped in the body and on the aluminum tag under the hood. The stickeron the left door b post is also in excellent condition. The tag on the windshield post is missing, probablymisplaced while windshield was out for repaint 25 years ago. Tires look good but are of unknown vintage and will most likely need replacement... 72 911 coupe, slant nose conversion,metal front fenders, metal rear fenders, factory tail and deck lid, bosch lamps and lenses. Removed from long termclimate controlled storage. Very very nice paint that has been on the car for 20+ years, no cracks in the dash,very solid body that could be retrofitted back to original. Oil change, plugs, dist cap and rotor to get the car running. Engine, gearbox, clutch, brakes all work well. Tires need to be replaced before driving, they are very stiff and have some cracking around the treads. Great project that would benefit from proper tuning, adjustments and detailing by a knowledgeable porscheenthusiast.

The key feature that makes the1972 year special is the forward mounted oil tank with external fill or also called oil clapper in europe. Placingthe large oil tank forward of the rear wheels made the car better balanced. For the 1972 and 1973 cars there weremany major improvements over past years, one of the biggest improvements was the 915 transmission which was thefirst modern shifting transmission fitted to the early cars. The 2. 4l engine was fitted with a stroked crankshaftand lower compression pistons which mean the cars have much more torque and need less revs to get them going sothey are easier to drive, especially in traffic. Further they can use any fuel available despite the octane rating. The lower compression adds to the longevity of the engines but they were also able to give more horsepower thanprevious cars through larger displacement. The last major improvement to the 2. 4 cars was the suspension, thesuspension points were revised to give better handling while offering a smoother ride. The 72 and 73 cars arealmost exactly the same car but the 72 betters the 73 with the mid mounted oil tank and this detail is coveted bycollectors. This car was sold new on june 29th 1972 at wester porsche/audi of monterey california to a robert s. Included with the car is the original and rare to find dealer supplied maintenance book which shows theoriginal owners name and address but also lists the original chassis vin number and engine number – which arematching to this booklet. Also included with this car is a certificate of authenticity or coa from porsche whichbacks up all numbers and shows it is in the original color with matching number engine and transmission. Recordscome with the car dating back to the late 70s and the original tool kit which is almost never with these cars is inthe trunk along with the original jack and spare tire. This car is in all original condition. Aside from necessary maintenance over the years nothing has been deviatedfrom the original build of the car. Unlike thevast majority of early 911 cars on the market this car has never been modified, customized, wrecked, or takenapart. This is an important trait as most restorations are not what they seem. It has been said many times thatthey are only original once, this car retains those original build traits. The interior is all original except for the floor.

Flares are all butt welded steel. Front and rear bumpers are fiberglass from gt racing. It's powered by a 2. 7 rs spec engine built by well know west coast engine builder jeff gamroth. It is tight and strong, pulling cleanly to redline with no leaks. I have the build sheet specs and have dyno sheets that show it dead on at 210 hp. I have the original engine & mfi for the car. Engine top end torn down for inspection & appears to be in great shape. Original mfi has a rebuilt aluminum pump and the system is in great shape.
