Because of its historical status as a starring picture vehicle, i decided not to restore it. Hence, the conditionthat it’s in is almost exactly as it was in the movie. Obviously i had to have some mechanical work done, butjust enough to keep it running smoothly and safe (list of repairs and modifications below). Mechanically it runs very well, just needing the occasional tune-up. Electrically, all theimportant lights work (headlights, turn signals, brakes, etc). Things like that (again, i wanted to preserve the “stock” nature of this star car).• vin: - p8th119299• style no.: 50 2567 dx• body no.: l18731• engine: straight eight• trim: convertible• paint: 5007• shipping weight: 3704• engine: eight cylinder: l-head. Displacement: 268. 2 cid. Bore and stroke: 3-3/8 x 3 3/4"inches. Compression ratio: (standard); 6. 5:1 (optional) 7. 5:1. Brake hp: (standard) 108 at 3600 rpm (optional)113 at 3600 rpm. Solid valve lifters. Carburetor: carter wcd-719-s two barrel.• chassis features: wheelbase: 120 inches all lines. Overall length (all cars) 202- ½ inches. Front tread: 58inches. Rear tread: 59 inches. Tires: (standard) 7. 10 x 15 (special equipment) 7. 60 x 15. Here are the disclaimers and the “issues”:a main issue is probably the convertible top. In addition, the window needs a new zipper. As well, the tonneau (?) coverneeds to be replaced. Here are the other main issues: the radio and clock do not work (i’ll include a replacement radio i bought, butnever installed. Think i have a spare clock too). The antenna has broken off. The sun visors need replacing. The hood lock is missing (the hood stays tightly closed though, due to its weight). While most of the gauges work, the odometer has been stuck since i acquired the vehicle, and it was sold as “tmu” (true mileage unknown). The heating system in the dash doesn’t work, butthere are manual controls that produce heat from under the seat. Possibly the biggest issue is that the doors don’t close all the way. They latch shut, but just don’t closeall the way (see photos).

1953 pontiac catalinai will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family. Only 56,787 miles and has beenrestored as needed for driving and car shows. We had plans to drive and show this car on a regular basis, butsometimes life has other plans, and we have decided to sell it to someone who we hope will give it a good home. Ibelieve this will be both a fun car and a great investment for the next owner! I am a big fan of this body styleand this particular car. I hope to see it go to a good pontiac home! This particular model of pontiac was only available in laurel green, milano ivory, or a two-tone combination ofthese colors. The term "catalina" was pontiac's nomenclature for pillar-less hardtop styling. Detailed engine and trunk compartments recent check up, tune-up, etc. The engine idles well, runs quiet, makes good power, and starts well every time. The transmission shifts verysmoothly through all the gears. Steers and stops very easy with the factory power steering and brakes. Drivesstraight down the road with no unusual vibrations, pulling, noises, etc. All of the original gauges work. Theradio and horn work too (clock is correct twice daily). The car is an absolute pleasure to own and drive. Nicebody and under-carriage. Doors open and shut very well. The upholstery is in good condition. It is a combination of older restoration and original. Nada classic car guide shows a "high retail value/condition" of $29,300+ hydra-matic transmission 5% 1,465 factory power steering 10% 2,930 factory power brakes 10% 2,930 56k low miles 10% 2,930).

It's a complete and clean custom build bathed in gold with a big trans am 403 v8 under the hood. It starts with the custom catalina body that was introduced new in 1953. It was the lower production companion to chevy's bel air hardtop design. This gives it the perfect lines to setup the gold and metallic burgundy two-tone paint. Plus the rare roof design gives this coupe a more regal appearance and plenty more room for chrome trim. And speaking of the brightwork there has been a lot invested in keeping the original center silver streak side trim and window surrounds all looking their best. It's the custom components like the bold front end with airbrushed pinstripe graphics and the custom grille. There's the bright pipes that give the appearance of side exhaust. Even the rear has plenty of custom graphic work to attract attention. It all sits on an aggressively lowered stance that carries 17-inch american racing torq thrust wheels that seem to perfectly blend the old and new styles of this street rod. One look at the interior and it's obvious this has been upgraded from 50s-style. The tan vinyl seating has the pillow top luxury that was not available until a few decades later. Not only does this add more comfort but it also allows for more features such as power seats and a new tilt steering wheel. There are now even controls for r134 air conditioning. It would not be a true street rod without a nice upgrade under the hood. The original 268 straight-eight motor was ditched for something with quite bit more muscle. Now it has pontiac's largest displacement v8 under the hood. But this build was more than just about creating serious power and an intimidating exhaust rumble. The chieftain now has power steering automatic transmission and front disc brakes. Even the rear suspension was upgraded to a trailing arm setup for better comfort. Power Seats✔ Air Conditioning

Add in lots more trim, a flashy hardtop profile, and enough familiar DNA to make it a handsome alternative to the more common Chevy. The 1955 Pontiacs like this Chieftain hardtop coupe had a new V8 and new styling that was a turning point for the company. The unique front bumper design and iconic "silver streak" hood give this plenty of distinction without losing the all-American '50s style AM/FM

Fans of pontiacs and american motoring history want to take note of this car. The 1955 pontiacs like this chieftain hardtop coupe had a new v8 and new styling that was a turning point for the company. It's time act quickly. The chieftain was the entry-level pontiac in 1955, but it looks anything but basic. The unique front bumper design and iconic silver streak hood give this plenty of distinction without losing the all-american '50s style. Add in lots more trim, a flashy hardtop profile, and enough familiar dna to make it a handsome alternative to the more common chevy. The turquoise is correct for this car, and it has the kind of smoothness and shine that comes from a modern respray. It's also now joined by a terrific white that separates alone the trim line. The curvaceous sheetmetal remains in great shape with good gaps and doors that close with reassuring solidity. The turquoise and white two-tone from the outside is masterfully continued on the interior. This combo looks fantastic on the button-top seats, which tells us a there was a serious investment here. The overall appearance matches quite nicely on the door panels, carpeting, and dash, for a true uniform appearance everyone loves at car shows. Pontiac's gauge package was one of the most handsome of the day with nice symmetry and a half-circle speedometer prominently mounted in the middle. The amount of the brightwork on the dash means upgrades like the am/fm/cassette player and trio of auxiliary gauges do a fine job of blending in with this largely original interior. More of what makes this pontiac great is under the hood. 1955 was the first year of the new ohv built by pontiac for pontiac, and this powerplant was how the brand began to establish its reputation for providing performance in the gm lineup. But while the first version only displaced 287 cubic inches, this one celebrates the time when pontiac got deeper into the horsepower wars with an enlarged buick 455ci v8. There are a few signs that this is a later motor, but most people peeking inside will find it hard to recognize the performance upgrade from just looking in the engine bay. After all, the correct light blue block and all the gloss black components just look like the product of a careful and original restoration. AM/FM
