This car is very reminiscent of the factory a/fx cars of the early '60's... Driven by legends ronnie sox, dyno don nicholson, hayden proffit and others, these 427 powered machines dominated the factory experimental class in 1964... Unlike those strip blazers, this "warmed over"289 powered machine is very streetable with a definite "wow factor". It sounds like a muscle car should, but can be a very reliable daily driver... I'm not a dealer, but a private collector. This comet is titled in my personal name here in the akron, ohio area.

Horsepower ratings would fluctuate slightly up or down through the years the comet would remain in production, but not by very much. A new, larger front bumper to meet federal standards was added to all models in 1973. A new custom decor package featuring vinyl roof, body-colored wheel covers, wide vinyl-insert body-side moldings, vinyl bucket seats, luxury carpeting, and extra sound insulation was a popular option. Changes for 1974 included even larger front bumpers and new larger rear bumpers to match. They added 2. 5 in to the length of the 2-door model and 4 in to the length of the 4-door model. The biggest changes for the 1963 mercury comet included the new chrome that ran from the top of the front fender all the way down to the back of the rear fender and then down and back around to the front again. This was the last year for the sporty custom and s-22 series options. The custom series included horizontal bars on the front and rear fenders, side window trim, deluxe upholstery, a white steering wheel with a bright horn ring, rear seat armrest, a cigarette lighter and a front door dome light switch.
