1970 amc javelin sst 1970 amc javelin sst with a 360ci engine and 3spd automatic transmission. The engine was reported by the previous owner to be rebuilt about 50k miles ago. The transmission was rebuilt and has less than 4k on it. This car is not perfect and has its scratches dings and dents. There is rust under the vinyl top and some developing in common areas. She still runs strong. Recent work includes a new fuel tank new tires new electrical wiring for the rear lights and fuel sensor high output alternator new radiator radiator fan edelbrock carburetor and front disk brake conversion. Factory spoiler & vinyl halo roof, factory a/c that blows ice cold, floor shift auto trans, power steering, power disc brakes, brand new magnum 500s with cooper cobra tires. Brand new holley carburetor. Tons of receipts from the last 10 years- over 3k alone spent on completely rebuilding the ac system. She's totally reliable and fully capable of daily driving--or take it to the show for something unique! For the amc purists out there- the javelin can easily be taken back to stock, however it's my opinion that mr. Snyder has improved on the original body lines. No disappointments--i have her insured with a classic car company for an agreed upon value of $30,000. The car has a clean florida title and has never been in an accident that i could find any signs of. She's drop-dead reliable. The engine temp never gets above 1/2 way even when stopped in summertime florida traffic. Oil pressure is very good- over 60psi at start up & 30psi when warm and idling. The transmission shifts slick and smooth. No electrical issues-- all lights function as they should. I have tried to describe the javelin as accurately and honestly as possible but please remember it is a 45-year old vehicle. As with any vehicle there may be issues that i have overlooked or am unaware of. Air Conditioning

The car incorporated several safety innovations including interior windshield posts that were "the first industry use of fiberglass safety padding" and the flush-mounted paddle-style door handles that later became an enduring amc safety and styling signature. The new javelin offered comfortable packaging with more interior and luggage space than most of its rivals the sst model had additional appearance and comfort items that included reclining front seat backs and a sports-style steering wheel. The javelin's instruments and controls were set deep in a padded panel, with the rest of the dashboard was set well forward, away from the passenger. This beatiful first year javelin has the optional sst package and is finished in red with red interior with black seat inserts. 1970 amc javelin mark donohue signature editionin the late 60's, as the "pony car wars" raged on the tracks of the trans am racing series across america, amcenticed the most successful team of the '68 season, roger penske and mark donohue to campaign the amc factory teamcars during the 1970 - 1972 seasons. Amc also needed to homologate (or legalize) the new amc javelin's specialfeatures for the 1970 season. Scca rules mandated that at least 2500 units be built to production standards tosupport the new twin inlet ("ram air") hood scoop. The main objective was to legalize the use of the very specialmark donohue designed rear deck spoiler. All production mark donohue signature edition javelins were based upon the fully optioned sst models and featuredthe distinctive and functional "ram air" hood and rear spoiler. In addition, the console floor shift was standardalong with a fully trimmed deluxe bucket seat interior. Amc did not specifically denote or identify mark donohuesignature edition javelins in vin, door tag, or body tag numbers. It is believed that amc produced 2501 of thesemark donohue signature edition javelins. Amc always did things a little differently and for those who pay attention the rewards can be huge. For example they gave the javelin a facelift in 1970 that is exclusive to this model year. That makes a genuine sst like this pretty darn rare (only about 19700 produced.) but the coupe's desirability goes beyond just rarity. The original shade of matador red looks nice with plenty of gloss and shine for the show field. The brightwork looks excellent and the full-width rear taillight section is a cool piece not often seen in the '70s. It also has all the right aggressive touches from the hood scoops up front to the wide spoiler in the rear. Plus the factory mag wheels are always a nice touch. It has the correct upgrades for the even rarer mark donohue edition (only 2501 were produced) and the code 79 on the included build sheet backs this up. That said it cannot be 100% guaranteed whether this car is a real mark donohue edition or not. It's hard not to fall in love with a pure red interior. That means the bucket seats carpets and door panels all nicely coordinate with the exterior color. But amc wanted to get attention so there was wood paneling on the dashboard and center console. Amc would introduce the larger motor the following year but this rare sports car couldn't resist the added displacement... And it didn't stop just there. Besides looking great with plenty of brightwork and fresh wires & hoses this one has plenty of extra performance too. But besides being a street-eating muscle car amc made sure the javelin could be an everyday cruiser too.
