Overview: this is a remarkably solid, original, running and driving 1963 triumph tr3b. This car would be an outstanding candidate for restoration or it could be a driver with nice patina. This is one of the last tr3s ever produced -- it was built on august 30, 1962 and was first registered in 1963. It is becoming really hard to find tr3s in this kind of unrestored condition. Frankly, i have been unable to decide whether to keep it as it is, or just give it new paint, or to fully restore it; so i decided to let the next owner make the decision. History: this appears to be a mostly rust-free, unrestored car. The previous owner told me that her father purchased it more than 40 years ago from the original owner who had purchased it new in germany before bringing it to the u. The british motor industry heritage trust certificate confirms that it was first sold in germany, that it has its original engine, and that it retains its original colors of spa white with red interior and black top. It retains what i believe to be the original interior, top, boot and tonneau cover. Mileage: the odometer reads 15,307. The previous owner believed it to be correct and checked “actual mileage” on the title, but i cannot confirm that. The odometer is fully functional, but it might have rolled over, i just do not know. Mechanical: the engine runs well, has excellent oil pressure, does not burn oil, and does not overheat. The brakes and clutch are operational, and the transmission shifts well through all the gears. The battery is nearly new and the tires look excellent. The steering and suspension also feel very good. Body / floors / frame / paint: the frame, floors, body, and trunk appear to be extremely solid and original. The hood, trunk and doors open and close properly and are in good alignment. The spare wheel well is excellent. The paint is very old, worn, and faded. Interior / top / chrome: the interior is old but looks very nice for its age. The convertible top is old and has some small tears. The boot and tonneau are old but look original. It does not have any side curtains with it. The chrome and bumpers appear to be original and look quite nice considering the age of the car. Electrical: the electrical systems are in surprisingly good order for such an old triumph. The headlights, running lights and turn signals on one side work properly but the turn signals on the other side were not flashing. The gauges are also currently in good working order. Documentation fee: a flat fee of $100 is charged on all vehicle purchases to help cover postage, paperwork, vehicle preparation, and other costs. Please understand that this fee cannot be waived. The balance must be paid by cash, cashier’s check, or wire transfer within seven days. All cashier’s checks must clear my bank before the vehicle can be released. For many, the triumph tr6 is the pinnacle of the traditional british roadster. While all classic british roadsters are attractive, this one has something a little extra going for it. The black pinstripe that runs the full length of the car does a nice job of uniting the grille, a-pillar, and flat kamm back into one cohesive design. And it also ensures this convertible looks great with the top up or down. The interior is another hallmark of the great british roadster. With a wood patterned dashboard full of original smiths gauges, it definitely has a hand-crafted european feel. Everything has a deep, dark appearance, including the bucket seats, carpeting, and door panels. The tr6 is a favorite on american roads because it is one of the most powerful cars to come out of the sprightly british sports car era. The 2. 5-liter inline-six back by dual stromberg carburetors knows how to move the lightweight tr6 with quick acceleration and sustainable cruising speeds. And even when stopping, control is well in hand with front disc brakes and the grip of modern bf goodrich tires. Suspension parts were replaced along with new heavy duty front coil springs. Italian styling wrapped in a nimble british package and named after a famous wwii fighter plane. These mark iv series spitfires had arguably some of the best styling cues of the bunch with the flat rear end that was shared with larger triumphs like the stag. The royal blue paint has a sophisticated presence that coordinates nicely with the darker elements like the taunt black roof, fresh weatherstripping, and the spitfire stripe on the rocker panels. Plus, it also makes the bright elements really standout such as the mirror-like bumpers, luggage rack, and the upgrade to minilite-style wheels. The spitfire was always about representing the plucky nature of a british sports car. That meant an interior built for function, but in true english fashion, form-fitting style was still a priority. This nature is at its best in this roadster because nearly everything was rebuilt or replaced during its full restoration. That's why the black vinyl on the seats looks the same as when this car got off the boat in 1972. Plus, there were some nice upgrades added like the auxiliary power plugs, sunpro volts gauge, and the am/fm/cd stereo with remote and usb input. If the weather does turn gray and wet, then just remove the new convertible boot cover and raise the black vinyl top with one hand. The 1. 3-liter motor in the spitfire is certainly small, but there's much more to this story. This lightweight powerplant has been upgraded with a weber carb and cannon intake. So this is little spitfire knows how to get aggressive without losing its sprightly charm. And his eagerness is exactly how these became so popular. The car barely tipped the scales but had a level of rigidity not seen on other roadsters of its day. These were built on a solid backbone chassis with lightweight metal partial unibody. This spitfire almost seems too good to be true, but we have original warranty card, owner's manual, restoration photos, and build receipts that prove the amount of sweat equity (and money) someone invested. The engine is apart and ready to be refurbished, which it has the original round metal filters, it also has the radiator with the crank hole and crank, which is a very Rare find. oo to purchase a lot of parts which includes the following: Windshield and trim plus additional trim, trunk lid, latch and key, tail lights.. The Floor boards are rusted threw but I do have new floorboard metal that will be included with the car
