This kit was ordered from classic motor carriages, inc (at the time the foremost manufacturer of kit car packages) and shipped to a gentleman in littleton, colorado in 1983. It was then assembled, completed, and titled in 1985. Built by the owner and his son, with every single receipt, repair, purchase, original certificate of origin, and photograph along the way, this car has impeccable history and documentation. Clean clear florida title -titled as a 1985 mg td convt. It shines at any angle with much depth and gloss. In person it looks great! No rust bubbles, scratches, dings, dents, cracks, or issues. The undercarriage is extremely clean. Very solid, straight, and rust free frame & floor boards. No holes, soft spots, rust, shoddy patch panels, or issues. No pitting or rust issues. The frame and drive train came from a 1974 ford pinto, which is the common and perfect choice for mg replica cars. Equipped with the 2. 3 liter, 4 cyl. Engine, 4 speed manual transmission, ford rear, mustang 2 front end. The price in 1983 for this kit alone was $6,799! Not including the ford donor car or the labor of putting together!! It rides, drives, and handles like a dream; straight down the road with no shimmies, shakes, or vibrations. Extremely tight, a pleasure to drive, and easy to maneuver with its size. Mg has a great fit with everything lining up very well; doors, trunk, hood, etc. All of the lights, turn signals, brakes, gauges, are functioning properly. Engine fires right up with no smoking, ticking, noises, etc. Top and interior show very well. Side curtains are also in good shape with clear plastic windows. This 1978 MG MGB is for up for sale. The MG model B was produced from Sept 1962 until July 1980 at the Abingdon Works facility. Many people consider the little roadster to be definition of affordable spirts car fun. This 1978 MGB is a great example of what these cars would look like from the factory. The White paint is clean with no major deficiencies the car shows extremely well. The Convertible Top is brand new and installed only a few weeks ago by a professional. Under the hood the original 1798CC 4 cylinder is a viable option for a car that weighs less than 2000 LBS. The original electronic ignition is in great working order and seems to have no issues as the car starts right up and idles nicely. Power is smooth and really comes to life at the higher RPM’s just like it should. The 4-speed synchronized manual transmission shifts nicely with the clutch having great feel. The black interior on the car is as nice as everything else making this one of the most sought after of all MGB’s. This 1978 MGB is an affordable example of a well-sorted and nicely coordinated British roadster. The white paint is a nice standout on this roadster. Plus, it provides a great contrast to the black bumpers, folding roof, and yes, even the tires. The color scheme is tied together properly with the black MGB rocker stripe. But more than just coordination, take a look at the details. Instead, the entire inside envelops the driver like a second skin. The space between the three-spoke wheel and the stick shift (both finished in wood) is exceptionally close for comfortable and quick performance. The driver gets a full set of gauges with a large speedometer and tachometer as well as dials for other vitals such as oil, fuel, and water. And this entire experience feels quite correct right down to AM/FM stereo. This is the original motor to the car, and it shows all the right signs of good maintenance, including fresh belts, wires, and hoses. With a sporty exhaust note and a willingness to rev, the engine lives up to its British roadster pedigree by offering a mighty experience in a small package. Plus, there's a surefooted feeling on the road thanks to the large 14-inch iconic alloy wheels with disc brakes behind the front set. The MGB is one of those rare affordable icons, and this one does it all in a particularly striking package. The original 5:12 ratio rear axle gears have been changed to 4:55, so the car cruises at 60 MPH effortlessly, can go faster, but more importantly the RPM's are cut down at cruise so fuel economy is better and the engine is under less strain at speed. All instruments work properly, including the clock in the speedometer, although after the interior work, the 12-volt lead was not connected to the clock, so . Odometer shows 35,400 miles, but I don't know if this is original mileage or turned over past 100,000 mile mark
